There are several websites and magazines devoted to comparing different consumer products so that people who are interested in buying something, has all the information and knowledge they need to make an informed purchase. GPS comparison is one such activity that helps the consumer before they purchase a GPS navigational system. Having the knowledge to make an informed decision is going to save you time and money when shopping for a GPS. And having someone else does the ‘legwork’ such as comparing the effectiveness or efficiency of the products is so helpful.
A review is a form of comparison for the GPS navigational systems. Some of these reviews are from paid writers of magazines and on-line e-zines or websites which compare and review several top brands of GPS navigational systems. They have put the products through several tests, such as real life usage. They programmed the GPS to take them some where and wrote about how well it did or did not perform, and then they did the same thing with another GPS navigational system and wrote a review about how that one performed. You then read both reviews and compare the outcome of each and decide which the better performer was for your money.
You may have to read several reviews and a comparison or two before you can make an informed decision on which GPS navigational system is right for you. One comparison will be more helpful than others; it all depends on the source and the reviewer or writer of the comparison. You want to find an unbiased opinion of each GPS you are considering purchasing so looking on the websites of the manufactures will not give you the unbiased GPS comparison you are looking for. Instead, go to websites and magazines that deal only with GPS navigational systems. And once a year the major consumer magazines come out with there ‘best of’ lists which are always helpful because you know they have thoroughly tested each of the top brand named GPS navigational systems and just report the conclusions, not their options.
In the end, if you are a more ‘hands on’ type of person, you might want to perform your own GPS comparison. You can do this by going into a local electronics store and, if left alone for a little while or if you prefer, have a salesperson help you, do some comparing of your own. Program a destination into two or three different GPS navigational systems and see which one has a clearer picture, better voice, clearer directions, and extra features and so on. Comparing prices would be the last thing after you narrow your search down to the best two for your needs.
